Coffered Ceiling — Executive Residence, East Legon
The owners of a private executive residence in East Legon commissioned a coffered ceiling for the main living hall — a room whose double volume needed a ceiling with enough depth and rhythm to hold it together. The coffer grid was set out on drawings first, proportioned to the seating arrangement below rather than simply to the walls.
Framing was engineered to carry the beam profiles across the full span without visible deflection, lighting runs were concealed within the coffer margins, and the plaster finish was brought up in stages with a check at each one. The completed ceiling was walked through with the owners and accepted against the drawings before final decoration.
