LED-Integrated Luminous Ceilings
Cove and perimeter LED, backlit stretch, and luminous smart-lit ceilings for Ghana homes and venues — warm or tunable white, scene control, and lighting designed into the ceiling, not bolted on after. Designed, installed and handed over in writing. Ceiling Experts Ghana, since 1980.
An LED ceiling is lighting design, not a strip stuck on after the ceiling is built. The glow that makes a cove or a backlit panel look effortless comes from setting the profile, the diffuser, the LED grade and the colour temperature together — before the ceiling closes. Ceiling Experts Ghana has designed and integrated cove, perimeter and luminous ceilings into Accra homes and venues since 1980, building the light into the ceiling rather than bolting it on.
Why Lighting Belongs in the Ceiling Design
Lighting added after a ceiling is finished almost always shows — visible strips, uneven brightness, hot spots, and drivers with nowhere accessible to live. When the light is designed into the ceiling from the start, the LED hides in the cove, the glow is even, the colour temperature suits the room, and the drivers sit where they can be reached. The result is a ceiling that does the lighting, not a ceiling with lights attached. That integration is the whole craft of a luminous ceiling.
Choosing the Right Luminous Effect
The choice is led by the effect and the mood. A soft perimeter accent calls for cove or perimeter LED; a glowing feature surface calls for a backlit stretch or panel; a room that should feel different morning and evening calls for tunable white and scene control. Warm white relaxes a living room; neutral white sharpens a kitchen or office; a single tunable ceiling does both. We design to how the room should feel, then build the profile to deliver it.
LED & Luminous Systems We Install
Cove & Perimeter LED Lighting
Concealed LED strip set into a perimeter cove, step or recess so light washes up the wall or across the ceiling — you see the glow, not the fitting. The classic, restful accent for living rooms, bedrooms, halls and hospitality, built into a POP or gypsum cove.
Backlit Stretch & Luminous Ceilings
LEDs set behind a translucent stretch membrane or panel so the whole surface glows evenly — a sky panel, a luminous centre, or a full glowing ceiling. A feature light source in its own right for living rooms, bars, salons and reception spaces.
Tunable-White & Smart-Lit Ceilings
Colour-temperature-adjustable LED and smart control so one ceiling shifts from bright neutral by day to warm and soft in the evening, with programmed scenes — everyday, entertaining, soft evening — set at a tap or on a schedule.
Lighting Integration into Feature Ceilings
LED designed into coffered, tray, wave and decorative ceilings — grazing a coffer, edging a tray, accenting a curve — so the lighting and the ceiling form are one design, not two.
Cove vs Backlit vs Tunable vs Feature-Integrated

| Cove / perimeter LED | Living rooms, bedrooms, halls | Soft perimeter glow | Dim / warm white | on survey |
| Backlit stretch / luminous | Bars, salons, reception | Glowing feature surface | Dim / scene | on survey |
| Tunable-white / smart-lit | Living, dining, venues | Day-to-evening shift | Smart scene control | on survey |

How We Design & Install an LED Luminous Ceiling
- Lighting brief & design — room mood agreed; lighting designed into the ceiling (cove, perimeter, backlit) with colour temperature set.
- Set-out & profile build — cove profiles, recesses or backlit cavity set out and built; LED channels, diffusers and drivers positioned; wiring routed to control.
- LED & control install — calibrated LED strip or backlit panels fitted; drivers mounted accessibly; dimmer, tunable-white or smart scene control wired and set up.
- Aim, scene-set & handover — light balanced for an even wash, scenes programmed, install snagged, room handed over with the control explained.
Materials & Real Standards
- LED and luminous ceilings are a lighting-design and integration craft — there is no product standard to certify the effect; quality comes from the profile, the diffuser, the LED grade, even colour, and accessible drivers, not a certificate
- Colour temperature is specified to the room — warm white (~2700–3000K), neutral white (~4000K), or tunable white across the range
- LED grade, driver and control are matched so the glow is even, dimming is flicker-free, and scenes hold their setting
- Where the LED is built into a plaster cove or gypsum profile, that POP is a craft finish and the gypsum board is specified to ASTM C1396 / EN 520 — the lighting itself carries no product standard
- Drivers and transformers are mounted accessibly so the lighting can be serviced without opening the ceiling
What Affects the Cost
- The effect (cove/perimeter vs backlit/luminous vs tunable smart-lit) and the lit area
- The LED grade, colour control (warm, neutral, or tunable white), and driver count
- The control system — simple dimming vs programmed smart scenes
- The ceiling form the lighting is built into (flat cove vs coffered, tray, or wave)
- Surface preparation and any old-ceiling alteration
Every quote follows a free site survey and a lighting brief — there is no fixed per-metre rate for a designed luminous ceiling.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between cove lighting and a backlit luminous ceiling? Cove lighting hides an LED strip in a perimeter recess so the light washes up the wall or across the ceiling — you see the glow, not the fitting. A backlit luminous ceiling puts the LEDs behind a translucent membrane or panel so the whole surface glows evenly. Cove is a soft accent; a backlit ceiling is a feature light source. We design to the effect.
Should I choose warm, neutral or tunable white LED? Warm white (~2700–3000K) suits living rooms, bedrooms and hospitality; neutral white (~4000K) suits kitchens and offices. Tunable white lets one ceiling shift between the two — bright by day, warm in the evening — which we often specify for living, dining and venues.
Can the ceiling lighting be set to different scenes? Yes — with dimming and smart control we program scenes (everyday, entertaining, soft evening, off) so the ceiling changes mood at a tap or on a schedule, and tunable runs shift colour with the scene.
How much does an LED luminous ceiling cost in Ghana? LED and luminous ceilings are a lighting-design and integration craft — cost depends on the lit area, LED grade, colour control, driver count and control system, so we quote on survey after seeing the room and agreeing the brief.
