Plaster Cornice Restoration — Diplomatic Residence, Cantonments
A diplomatic residence in Cantonments required the restoration of its original plaster cornices and ceiling roses, sections of which had been damaged by an earlier roof leak. Surviving lengths were used to take profile templates so the repaired runs would match the originals rather than approximate them.
New sections were cast in fibrous plaster off-site and married to runs worked in situ, with colour and texture matched before decoration. The residence remained occupied for the duration, so each room was sealed, worked and returned in sequence, and every completed stage was inspected and signed off against the agreed scope before the team moved on.
